Secrelight: I think that Netflix has no excuse for turning Winx into a Riverdale Shadow Hunter fusion. They can make the excuse that it's to appeal to an older audience, but if they actually watched the series they'd know that the series itself was plenty dark when it needed to be. Tecna goes missing and is presumed dead, bloom turns evil, Aisha goes blind for a bit, and Flora almost dies by drowning (to name a very small few from the first three seasons). Not to mention bloom having to face the more crushing reality of her family and whole world/realm that she's from has been destroyed and that for a long time the only "living" relative she had was her sister who was essentially a spirit trapped in a lake. I'd have much rather just seen a live action of the original series with more updated dialogue than Netflix's attempt at a fairy show without actual fairies until the fire with holographic wings that lasted barely a few minutes. Netflix just wanted to make a new Shadow Hunters but couldn't rely on their own creative and marketing teams to come up with something so they piggy backed off a fandom that had been wanting a LOYAL live action for years, and what's worse is that they're likely going to do the same with Avatar the Last Airbender.

She looked so different with her hair down I never made the connection and yet I just watched Sabrina a few weeks ago. the only bad point in the show for me was too many different successive lies about Bloom's origin. her parents, then not her real parents, her hometown destroyed and real parents killed, then it's not her hometown and she was kidnapped. there are so many stories, we don't know which part is true or if it's all a lie.

Rachel: I hate that Musa's magic was changed but I *love* this version of Musa. Musa was my favorite Winx Club member but it's so weird that she's not with Riven. I feel weird about how they made Bloom a changeling when they could've just as easily had her origin where she was found by her adoptive dad during a fire. I went into this show with such prejudice and ended up binging it all at once. I don't understand why they had Riven be Sky's best friend and not Brandon (Sam looks more like Brandon would but they made him Terra's brother so...). It's also weird they only kept Stella being a Princess but not Sky or Bloom. I wonder if Beatrix is really a fairy. I think she could be a Blood Witch's daughter or even the daughter of a Blood Witch and a Fairy! Also, maybe the voice Bloom hears is Daphne!

kali: My predictions/theories for Season 2 or later: - The other winx eventually learn transformation magic as well and earn their wings (The different wings always shown flashing in the intro are a preview of them) - The blood witches might return in some form or still be alive, so we might get the Trix or at least witches - The mentioned „Threat worse than the burned ones“ might either be the witches or we‘ll get something similar to original Winx villains like Darkar or Baltor - Musa learns mind magic similar to Farah, like entering people‘s minds, changing emotions and reading thoughts - The winx learn how to converge their magic, similarly to how they did in the original show and how Farah, Ben and Rosalind did - Bloom‘s ancestors probably used the dragon flame to create their own personal army (the burned ones)

They honestly could have just made this their own thing but used winx for nostalgia bait. Jenieve Scarlet: I was quite spectical about this show as I loved the original cartoon series. But I really did like this series. It's not perfect and it has it flaws. I don't agree with white-washing Flora and just changing her name. However, I do belive this series can improve and become a great show. Especially if they stick to the story line of Bloom being the heir to the lost Kingdom of Donimo and introduce Valtor and the three acient witches!

Athena: To be honest I really liked the show. I went into it very critical as an original Winx Club fan but it was quite decent. Did it have its issues? Sure! Was it a little basic? Sure! But it was better than I expected. These are my theories for season 2: SPOILER ALERT: THEORIES BASED ON SPOILERS FROM THE ORIGINAL CARTOON, PROCEED WITH OWN CAUTION I think it will go down similarly to the way the original show went. Bloom is revealed to be the heir from Domino but instead of her sister Daphne simply sending her to another world to save her from the attack of the ancestral witches, she sent her through a time wormhole where she ended up in 2004. The Blood Witches of Aster Dale found her (not going to be surprised if they're revealed to be followers of the three ancestral witches), Rosalind then killed them and then sent Bloom to the First World. In the original it made no sense that the entire magic dimension just forgot about the most powerful kingdom (the resting place of the Great Dragon) being wiped out. The 1000 year old lost kingdom theory makes more sense and it also explains why Bloom has wings unlike the others, she's from a different time and as such didn't evolve. Domino most likely froze over just like in the OG when Daphne passed the Dragon Flame over to Bloom and as such the kingdom lost its source of magic (the flame goes from parent to child but since Daphne was killed she had to pass it on to keep it safe). I also expect Valtor to come at some point who, just like the Burned Ones, was also created by a spark from the Dragon Flame. It would all link very well.

jnccivlbn: my pros: actually loved aisha, best character (although ignored) terra was actually tolerable and as a character was not horrible. nice personality, friendly, easily likeable all the acting was great the cgi was mostly great the show is set up great for a second season the scenery was great for its purpose the fashion was horrible, but was better than what i was expecting they repaired musa and terra's relationship issues by the end which was good overall quite refreshing great chemistry between most chaarcters plot twisting was done well a hijabi background character in the first episode, and SOME asian/black background chaarcters! cons: bloom has a horrible attitude and was unlikeable, riven was a complete caricature and was so insufferable whitewasing. that's all i need to say no outfit transformation for bloom and cgi in her transformation was choppy that mixed race boy was a trainwreck and his whole plot made no sense. is he bi/ does he like terra/why is he working for beatrix??? and what changed and why so fast why is aisha not given a love interest, backstory, family, purpose, skill and why is her struggling with powers just neglected, also, why was she so hated for doing the right thing and snitching??? stella was annoying and beatrix was equally annoying, they both got the worst lines and cheesy feminist dialogue. too annoying that their "redemptions" were too late and i stopped trying to like them barely used the source material, could've just been a stand alone show why are there only 3 teachers, and why are they never in any lessons? there could've been more development in the whole groups friendship and their unity as a winx cub, not just a few of them being friends and then another pair of them getting along they barely used their magic for most of the time, like for everyday activities and as jokes or for ease. that would've been more interesting, all we see is musa reading minds of her boyfriend. is her power even going to be useful for anything? the love triangle was useless in every possible way. nabu and flora and tecna should be brought back and more latinx/asian especially background characters need to be added considering in england there is a high minority of them irrelevant but blooms parents looked too young and rosalind and the headteacher look too close in age. also, why do so many people have 1 mentioned parent with no mention of the other? e.g sky, beatrix, terra and sam

Anthony Fay: Abbey Cowen did a great job at bringing bloom to life. I grew up loving to original series. This is defiantly something I can resonate more with as a 23 year old. It’s different to the show I grew up with but has all the potential to be just as great as the series it’s based on. Stellas difficult relationship with her mother and never being good enough is something that resonated with me deeply. Bloom feeling out of place in the world and not knowing what anything means is something we can all relate to. I can only see the series getting better from here on out. I’m hoping that they will introduce cloud tower (the school for witches) and we will get to see the winx club take on the Ancient ones. I’m excited to see the other winx members gain their wings and to see them all grow together and gain new abilities. It’s nice to see that they’ve included male fairy’s and female specialists. I’m very excited for season 2. I was so sad when I realized the episode 6 was the last episode of the season. I’m also chuffed because it was filmed here in Ireland and getting to see my country finally be recognized for its beauty and its wonderful scenery and locations being used for a show about fairy’s is so wonderful as they are a big part of Ireland’s lore.

Isabela Freund: There's no reason why they made this show Winx. Cashing in on nostalgia only works when the original fans are on bored, and this just feels disrespectful. They could have changed the names of the characters and locations and it could have had a fighting chance at being decent.

Otaku NerdXD: I have a couple theories of my own. Rosalind I think is a witch herself, specifically either an ancestral witch or a witch form their bloodline. If y’all remember the kids show, witches and fairies are connected to the same source. They can change their forms. We see it with Merta (the witch from season 1 &2 of the kids show, obtaining fairy wings) and on the wiki Mrs. Faragonda was a witch before she was known as a fairy. Rosalind being an ancestral witch makes so much sense, because that’s how she’s so knowledgeable about “arcane” magic like transformation & convergence magic. Theory 2: The burned ones are actually part of the “dark army” from season 1, or were created by Valtor or Lord Darkar. They’re the only known people who also have the dragon flame themselves. Valtor was literally created by it via ancestral witches, while Lord Darkar was a deity with “the shadow flame” which is the darker side of the dragon’s flame. Theory 3: When Rosalind speaks of “an ancient war” and a “terrible evil coming”, she’s either speaking of 1.) the ancestral witches 2.) Lord Darkar 3.) Valtor. Theory 4: The soft voice Bloom hears in the forest or when encountering the burnt ones. She’s actually hearing Daphne’s voice. In the cartoon, Daphne calls on bloom may times via dreams and shows her glimpses of her memory as a baby. I know many of you would think it’d Rosalind calling bloom or the burnt ones themselves, but by the softness of the voice and the missing presence of Daphne in the series. It’s most likely Daphne. What are your thoughts about my theories? I, like many of you at first, i was on the fence about this darker and mature version of our beloved Winx Club cartoon. I was critiquing the crap out of it the first 4 mins of the first episode, but I honestly think this version does fit the more darker academia vibe. I give it a 7.5/10

Anastasia Hernandez: If they keep to canon regarding the Dragon Flame, she can likely attain the flame for herself, but it's a magic that only the keeper can truly harness and use. So it would never be truly gone from Bloom's arsenal, nor would Rosalind ever be able to use it. ... assuming they don't ruin that part of the lore, that is.

Levi Star: I just finish watch out season 1 as someone who was a huge fan of the cartoon this was actually really great for a build up for season 1 and more seasons to come the maturity n sci fi field of it was really good I rate it 7.5/10 the start was a lil slow but it reli pick up and delivered a shockin ending that will make you wanting more

Gpod Joe: The way they made transformations and magical convergence as an extra difficult thing only powerful fairies can do when in the show even the weakest of first year students can do magical convergence and transform kinda reminds me of how firebenders cant produce their own flames without the comet in that awful god forsaken live action adaptation of an amazing show where firebenders can make their own fire in any other normal day...
