CAR Things: Mercedes has definitely been sandbagging bigtime. In Lewis’s runs on the sandstorm day, you could clearly tell he was purposely keeping his foot in the throttle doing a bit of F1 Dakar rally style driving in the sandy conditions, or maybe just having a bit of a hoon for fun! Normally he is far more throttle sensitive as we all know. I just think that was one of many signs that they’re holding just about everything back ahead of the season opener. If anything, I have a sinking feeling that RedBull should be even more worried about Mercedes this year than last year!

Max G: I think I have an idea what Mercedes actually do in these tests to hide the pace. They raise the ride height of the car all round, so it's at least half a second off. (Slight height difference makes a monumental difference in laptime) They gather enough data to know what the true speed of the car would be, on different fuel loads etc, if the car was lower. At the same time, the car has the same balance and tricks the opposition. There's no way the car is suddenly way off the pace, as its the same chassis as last season, albeit a few floor and diffuser changes.

Tramaine318: Mercedes may be struggling a bit, but! No team in formula 1 history has adapted better to fixing their weaknesses as Mercedes AMG Petronas. That team of engineers and designers are what sets Mercedes apart from everybody else. Just my opinion
