And btw, let's not forget that the commet is passing in the middle of the night, so the firebenders don't have the power from the sun.

@jorddia1227: This whole series is just written with so much detail. I would like to think that the whole reason Aang is the most powerful avatar in all of history is not only that it is what the world truly needed most but also because among all avatars Aang is the only one with enough will to properly use that power, displayed by the fact that in Aangs avatar state being influenced by all his predecessors he was about to end Ozai’s life but was able to comeback to himself and find a better way to bring balance to the world. A bit of a tangent but in TLOK I think the reason Korra is so “weak” is also based on the fact that the world at that time didn’t need an avatar and if anything wanted to end it with Korra.
