Every human is a burden on the other...sooooo much expectation of another. Mother expects from son, husband from wife, wife from husband, children from parents, parents from kids, sisters from brothers, brothers from sister, ... it's a sickening tragic life for everyone... Our expectations should only be of Allah. As only HE can help us in anyway... if you can walk walk eat stand go to the bathroom and meet you personal hygiene needs then you should be living within your own private space.. people should come and go but this heinous cultural burden that if you are the son or eldest child then it's your responsibility to look after all your siblings and parents etc etc... Everyone has a right to breathe in their own space and should all be living independently and happily... Islam has not taught extended family living conditions.. it has taught us that we must look after our parents.. that means daughters look after your own.. not your in laws.. sons look after your own not expect your wife to fulfil your responsibility... Islam is such a beautiful religion and has protected every single individuals rights and freedoms but people have ruined the life of people by culturaism. .. This mother withered away making her life a misery and her daughters by believing that it was her sons responsibility to look after her.. Why do we feel that any human has any responsibility over us? Allah is the one whom we should be counting on and it is He that will help us.
