Cristina Sánchez: For those who are a little bit confused (It's not a spoiler don't worry): It's been 4 years since we saw the last panel of eren, levi, mikasa and the rest in the last episode of season 3. If you pay attention to what the characters say, we are seeing a battle between Marley and the Middle East, not Eldia. Other nations attacked Marley as they lost 2 titans (Bert and Annie) therefore they seemed easy to defeat. Also, just to clarify, that's why we can understand the line which says that Marley needs to acquire the power of the Founding Titan as soon as possible: Reiner and Zeke (without Bert) came back from Paradise Island when they were defeated by Levi, Armin etc. (Second Part of Season 3) They haven't been there for 4 years as the war they are fighting here is against the Middle East civilians. - It's important to remember that a person who gets a titan from all of the 9 intelligent ones perish for 13 years only. That's why Marley is looking for Eldians (like Gaby, Falco, Colt etc. eldians who swore loyalty to Marley) to be some of the next titans. (There are 9 titan powers). Only Eldians (Subjects of Ymir) can transform into Titans: Eldians from Paradise Island like Eren, Armin, Hange etc. are the same descendants as Eldians from Marley (like new characters we see Udo, Gaby, Falco etc.) BUT these last ones want to eliminate the eldians from Paradise Island because they are taught that Eldians have devil blood and masacred Marleyans for a long long time due to the fact that they were able to tranform into Titans (Marley's point of view) consequently they are being discrimated and treated differently from the rest of the people living there (We can see that in Grisha's story).
