Stefan Punct: Do you know the tv-show "Little House on the Prarie" ? Written by the author Laura Elizabeth Wilders, née Ingalls ? Her family had settled in "Indian country" ( today we would say reservation ) of Kansas , near Independence ( the name today, in Montgomery county , at that time Colfax ) . Her father - "Pa Ingalls" - had been a member of the posse. She mentioned this in her writings and speeches ( about stoppings at the inn of the Benders or the rumors about the great number of disappearing people). When she grew up in later years she asked her dad about the Benders and he answered that they will never be found...Also in the 1870'-ies lynching had been a crime and there had been the possibillity to go to jail for some years ,if you had done. Though you would not tell everybody about that.
