Pete Peppers: A great finale with a little bit of everything. So much more to talk about. Will be making more Expanse videos over the next week, so let me know what you want to see.Написать
BFA 94: I was devasted because of the death of Alex and because there was no ceremony ! Best pilot in the sol system. Otherwise i realy like this serie. I love how they represent our future..its so realistic...i must read the books...il will read the books.
Krishnan: Loved the video, great breakdown as always! But a minor correction: the Koto wasn't taken out by Drummer's torpedoes, it was instead disabled by 2 railgun shots from the Rocinante. You can see it for a couple of frames right before the Koto is disabled; as the Roci swoops in, there is a purple glow emanating from it, indicating its railgun had just been fired. Ngl I thought the battle was excellent but it took me quite a few tries to know who disabled the Koto.
fallen hobbit: so they are going to skip the time jump and most of the context for what happens on laconia and just cram 6 7 and 8 into one season. That sucks.
Leo - DC.: They killed Alex at the last moment cuz of allegations that aren’t even proved to be true.....yikes.
Gillian Rosheuvel: My heart jumped a bit when I saw that protomolecule structure on Laconia.
Captain Picard: Bobby looks so hot in her space outfit.
Captain Picard: Man I’m going to miss Alex. Took me while to warm up to him, but he became one of my favorite characters. RIP goat. 🐐
chacha: Can’t thank u enough.... your videos help me enjoy EXPANSE even more
Shona Schneider: The scene with Naomi taking her last breath, then the bump and the hiss of air and Bobbie’s voice, followed by half her face framing Naomi’s and her calm, measured voice has to be one of the best, BEST scenes I’ve ever seen in television. Acting, sound, lighting, framing, a few minutes of Masterclass Cinema! I was spellbound and had to pause the show to calm the heck down.
Susan Kajiyama: Amazon “Games of Thrones” The Expanse! Meaning there are 9 Expanse novels and they killed one of the main characters and smashed together half hazardously many story lines. Thank goodness I have all the books.
Pamela Rickard: No book spoilers :)
John.S: So, Cas Anvar was kicked off the show due to allegations against him, Clearly, this was a decision to protect themselves regardless of evidence, as per Canadian law, "innocent until proven guilty", they kicked Anvar off simply because their private inquiry into the allegations returned indications of proof, not from a sentence made by a Court of Law, by their inquiry, they then assumed him guilty regardless of the rule of law. Anyway (of yeah I know I'll get deleted but I seem to like ranting about stuff).. Did anyone else notice how the death scene of Alex Kamal was done?.. I expected they'll at least do some neat looking death scene since it was such a scene for a core character, but what did they end up doing? It was basically a freeze-frame, like they decided "he's out, lets just cut a part of the chapter we already shot and do a freeze on him and CGI up the surrounding shot to make it look live"..
Anatoli :;;;;;;;: Avasarala needs to step her game up and get revenge on Marco I am tired the UN losing from the start the director better give us a win the UN brags always being powerful navy but we don’t see them wining they are always losing so bad
Tree Merc: Drummer is my favorite character by far with Amos close behind. You can't ever count either out.
Kerbodynamic X: The free navy knocked out battleships of UNN and MCRN... remember when the Donnager showed up in season one, it looked like an unstoppable force?
Tuomas Holo: I wanted to hate this episode because of what happened to Alex but they gave him a heroes death.
Joana Sousa Rocha: I now this comment will be lost, but I just want to say that I loved following your videos after each episode. I din't read the books, but after that ending, I'm not going to wait a year to find out what is happening. Just got the book 6...
Greg M: They shouldn't have killed Alex like that. I know the actor wasn't coming back for season 6, but I think this would of been one of the few times where recasting would of been okay.
MisterKrummy: I choked up bad with Alex. I'd rather they recast him or send him home to Mars to reconcile with his family. Naomi's near fatal attempts to save her friends hit me pretty hard too. When she was facing death in the suit floating in space....geez. And right after all that relief... Wonderful comic relief with Amos though.
Telarian: Alex death wasn't fitting at all, it basically happened because of sexual allegations against the actor. Even though i get why they would drop him uncerimoniusly like that, i kinda feel sad loosing one of the best science fiction characters on tv ever.
Bear: That rail gun on roci is OP
Solo Skipper: The ending left me thinking that now there seems to be a rogue fleet without a leader.
ac0rpbg: Why are you dresssin it up Pete? Alex was not supposed to die... It was all done for the purpose of firing him for some shady sexual abuse scandal.... It is disgusting how it has been handled. What happen to innocent until proven guilty ? I thought people will learn from Johny's Depp case. But nope we still going full retard mode. I still think Naomi dying would've made more sense, sacrificing herself to safe the crew. This would've bring whole new meaning to the rest of the crew to avenge her, and since we get Peaches and Monica and Bobby the crew would've been somewhat balanced without Naomi. The show strive for realism and the whole Naomi ordeal and the space survival without oxygen just doesn't sit well with me.
Zion Crash: Yes please can you do a video with book spoilers !!!
Robert Paul Guidry: This was worth watching, thank you. Can you please focus on Lycoonia and the empire-building and the see of a resistance
Uxküll: I think the tone shift from mourning Alex to smiling and laughing at a party so soon after was very tone deaf and jarring. Certainly not the weakest finale so far but not the best either 7.7/10 for me.
C S: Naomi backwards is I moan
Russell Donithan: Action figures????
Megan Pillay: despite whatever allegations i still cried for alex death scene he was part of the main cast and had some memorable moments , this entire episode was a tear fest , so many emotional moments especially noami floating in space and then being rescued . i only realized now that this is the first season where the roci crew werent together fighting alongside each other but fighting separately . their reunion towards the end was so satisfying .
GA LC: At least we have a glimpse of a Magnatar class starship...
Jayke Keola: I've been a huge fan of this show since it was on SyFy. In my opinion, this season, past episode 4, was a huge letdown.
Gaby A. Faris: Unpopular opinion: i wish recasting was more of an option when an acter leaves but the character they play still has a story to tell.
John Ver: Worst, woke season ever...way to turn powerful actors and actresses into feeble barely surviving characters not capable of saving themselves without quick and convenient write-ins. Ohh and do you think we would be OK with killing off a main character with some forgettable asshole of a character to pilot the Roci all because unverified sequel misconduct between Cas and a woman who claims to be innocent yet "keeps getting involved" by her own words with a married man... This culture is always guilty without presumption of innocence and no way to defend against allegations anyways so why not skew a plot line with horrible last minute write-ins... You mean to tell me Naomi, one of the strongest, smartest members of the cast is 'out of good options' manages to survive SPACE without a suit on a suicide jump, radiation exposure, oxygen deprivation/ CO² exposure, Minutes without ANY air.... and Kamal can't even perform a hard maneuver despite dozens before?? Also how the hell did Bobbie survive that high G maneuver clearly NOT strapped into anything...! Season 1-3 Great! Amazing Season 4 is like watching The Walking Dead with a bunch of drama filler no one cares about then a really exciting yet short lived ending replacing clever solutions for setting up plot to come. Still decent but only if Season 5 knocks it out of the park with crazy new revelations, i.e. aliens 👽 and tech of the likes... What we get is strong established characters subjected to play weak, out-maneuvered pawns to a lesser liked villan than Dawes with no credibility, yet he unites the belt on whimsical thoughtless strategy and fractured alliances. We deserve better than Hollywood being woke. Amos you get a pass you did alright, everyone else should call you captain because you're the only one that outsmarted the situation and didn't hard charge into a trap out of unemotional love feelings...
Ra's al Ghul: Some book Spoilers? Dang just gimme all the spoilers :D would also gladly watch an summary from the other books that haven't been used yet
I V: RIP The Expanse
Ginger Vertican Carrier: yes, please explain about the laconia system and what the heck is happening
bkzalley: As with several episodes of The Expanse, I found myself with such emotion watching this one. The acting is so perfect and I will be buying the books because the story is so good. Thank you for your breakdowns.
linda dig: This show is amazing. I am now reading the books, finally, because it deserves more of my time. Thank you for making these videos! I am only sorry that this series is not pushed more in terms of marketing. Although I liked GOT (well excluding the latest series), The Expanse is on a new level, it should deserve more publicity.
Mykael David Lazzeri: Why wasn't Naomi's body in the same spiral loop the ship was in? Did inertia suddenly become non-existent? Perhaps just too hard of a capture rescue if she were? Am I missing something?
HookahSmokinCaterpillar: Jesus, what a Finale. I was on the edge of my seat for the whole episode. Spoiler: RIP Alex.
m1abrams 1776: The scenes with Alex and babbage hit harder after learning about cas anvars allegation
Heavy J: But PHYSICS??? When Naomi jumps free of the Chet, the ship is shown accelerating up and away from her. How does she end up inside the arc of the ship's path as seen by Alex and Bobby? This would only be the case if the ship was shown arcing up and towards her. I find this inconsistency jarring. Maybe most people wouldn't notice this, but this show is usually much more careful about creating logical consistency in these shots. Maybe they were much more focused on how to write Alex out of the show. :(
Robert Holland: Do it! Do the Laconia video.
John Patz: Overall I enjoyed this season, but the amount of filler was insane. I mean how many times do we need to see Naomi go in/out between the hulls? They show her scratching the number of trips into a beam, so we don’t need to see so many trips. The same with Amos and Peaches traveling to Baltimore. I love how the torpedoes from Drummer’s ship are sort of ejected, as opposed to launched. Also, am I the only one who thought the small blue ring gate, in the distance, was actually earth for a few seconds?
Anthony C: Laconia, yes please!
Big Ed: love the show but it was my least favorite season
Tony Smith: More more more! :)
Covers and Commentary: i hate how Alex died. They really should've just replaced the actor and kept his character going. Over all I love this show, it really is one of the best
Freedom Finance: What was Monica finding about the battle data?
James Holden: Fúçk you, amazon for killing Alex. That was such búllshít.
Eamonn Coyle: Really great reviews. I just found these reviews for last 4 shows of season 5. Looking forward to going through earlier seasons. Have you thought about doing an analysis of Drummer? She’s a composite of many characters from the books. I would like to see your take on how the show brought those different characters together into one character on the show. Plus it seems like it would not have worked at all without the amazing Cara Gee. Thanks!
Marcos: The barkeith disapearing was not AT ALL clear. Yeah I noticed the gate color transition was different, but I didn't understood it as the ship being destroyed, I thought they just wanted to show that the presence Holden felt when he went through the rings (that nobody else felt) was real. Thanks for explaining this, this wasn't clear at all
Nicky B: Such an amazing show. Reading the first book now. Just as epic
Bishop Inskipp: Hmm the Expanse lost me this season. It felt more like a turgid stage play at times, and I'd bet the pandemic had a lot to do with that. Doesn't compare to previous seasons at all sadly.
Ceti Fox Productions: I think the saddest part about Alex dying is that Cas Anvar is the main reason Amazon picked the show up. Man, that death really hurt me as a fan.
Virgil Vergara: Sorry. I used to like this show. But Season 5 was one of the most boring and pathetically bad acting that I've ever seen with this show. Season 1 is still the best. This season focused way too much on Naomi crying and trying to connect with her son. Yeah we get it that you missed your son. But the entire world is being bombarded with meteors and it was minimized by the Naomi character arch. Lastly, Alex should not have been killed. He died in the most pathetic way. He brings a lot to the show. Now the only one that is carrying this show is Amos, Bobbie and Avaserila. Naomi's character just doesn't thrill me all. In fact, she is annoying and wish she would have just go away.
Jason Gilbert: Book Spoilers...yes
Douglas Williamson: Thanks man!
Paddy Killin: WTF HAPPEND . AMAZING. but so confused
Garland Remington III: Starting at, 26:27 up to 26:44 it shows Naomis son, Filip messing around with some strange looking things in his bedroom and ends with him holding a firearm. I keep asking myself, just what was he up too in his room?????? Waiting for his dad to come in, and rag on him, and he kills him???? So I’m asking others to chip in on this. Gimme your opinion.
Christmas Ape: Question, I keep thinking about that micro meteor attack. I get normal big rock meteor attacks.....moving big rocks, easy...but this micro meteor burst? I haven't read the books, I was wondering if this was explained more? It just seems like a whole shit ton of science/math/whatnot to get all these little rocks, to fly at the correct trajectory. Thought it was awesome, but just wondering if there was more about it in the books?
Jon Skelton: I def want to know more about Laconia and did the ring builders have something to do why the ship was vaporized when it passed through the gate.
hamobu: I hate the whole "crew is a family" cliche that is now in every show!
Carl Stanford: Just a blow by blow. No analysis. No discussion
homer97027: Alex also learned about sexual harassment and being written out of season 6
MadMaxx: I love this show, but season 5 was the weakest of the series. It started well, but quickly developed a bad case of Better Call Saul disease. The last 4-5 episodes felt dragged out and tedious, especially the Naomi focused episodes. I’m sick of her and wish she had died instead of Alex (I know why he was written out). Amos is the strongest, most interesting character by far, yet he was a back bencher virtually the entire season. I hope he has a huge role in season six.
Review Guy: Horrid season. No sci fi. More swearing. Poorer acting. What in the heck was the storyline? I recall a lot of Naomi grunting stuck on a ship. As if we couldn't smell the Alex replacement coming a mile away with the extremely similar looking and acting Bull. Geesh. Alex was one of the best characters. Sad that Cas was fired over allegations not findings. Woke culture alive and well in the future I guess.
SMDoktorPepper: So much in this episode..just hope the show doesnt get cancelled again.
Pouria Hesaraki: 21:51 Yes please . That'll be great .
Rob G.: Did they show this Admiral Duarte on any of the episodes in season five?
Max Deyes: I love how you interpret the show and balance it with the books. It''s a hard line you tred and you tread it well. More please.See you on the other side.
Sean Dennis: The best part about the space battle was the Roci finally got to use that railgun to great effect. Also, Pete, The Koto wasn't taken out by missile impact, but by two shots from the Roci at close range with their keel mounted railgun. You can see it as the Koto's PDCS were taking out the incoming, the Roci gets a hit from behind that punches through the front, then a follow up shot to disable.
ps 403547: Was that Philip in the elevator Bobbi was shooting at on mars when the weapons were being stolen? Sure looked like it...
tantoxerMUC: Cmon, such an incredible show gives such an important character a cheap stupid death like this just because of his private life? this really downrates the whole show for me. They should have come up with a better idea like this
Dan R Goodnight: I felt it was a disappointing season, the family drama was waaay over done and stole time from great sci-fi. the show runners need to space that dufus son asap.
viermidebutura: this season was slow and with little action
Evan Cahoon: There needs to be more than one more season
Lupercal: Vid with book spoilers please.
VespoLiveGaming: The injustice is that few people realize just how badass a pilot Alex was... especially that last high-g burn. He was constantly spinning the ship around and tapping the thrusters to make up for his damaged thruster. Try landing in its dangerous with flight assist off and without using half your maneuverering thrusters. Not easy!
TheBloodGolem: I miss Miller
Lupercal: F
Garland Remington III: We are fixing to watch the show again for our fourth and final time. We learned this, the format we use from one of my wife’s first cousins that worked in Hollywood for 32 years through the, IATSE. The, “INTERNATIONAL ALLIANCE OF THEATRICAL STAGE EMPLOYEES UNION.” For seven years of her career this was her job. To watch not only shows/Series, but also movies. Needless to say she got to see all kinds of movies before any of us ever got to. And when we would go visit her and her husband who also worked in Hollywood and started out as a, “Best boy (grip/gaffer), they would get permission to take us on the set of many television series/movies made for TV & the theater. Needless to say, we got to meet so many different Hollywood stars over the years. Especially in Marina Del Rey where her cousin and her husband lived on their boat. And we have news for anybody, the Hollywood old guard from the 30s 40s 50s which also carried over into the 60s were 100% more patriotic and 100% far nicer and, for real. Several of them over the years invited us to their homes. Compared to the stars today and the ones that have come out in the last 10 to 20 years. You would have to hunt hard to find a real patriotic bone in them. In the old Hollywood, a lot of the men, The majority of your leading men had actually served in WW2. And the majority of the women had served in various parts of the USO branches. After about 10 years her husband became a “Key Grip.” which is the very top supervisor of all the other grips. High paying blue collar job. Together, both of them made far far more then your garden variety blue collar couple. On average, together, they made $200 thousand. And traveling there per diem was outstanding. But I severely digressed. The first time we watched it we were like everybody else, we are overly excited and we miss so much because we’re only concerned with what is exactly in front of us. And that is the leading actors and actresses only. What they are saying, only. What they are doing, Only. The second time we watch it we pay 100% close attention to the supporting actors and actresses. And not just what they are wearing. Lol 😆 And you would be surprise what you miss if you follow this format we had no idea what all we had been missing for years until she sat down and showed us how to do it. The third time we watch it that is when we really take in the set, looking all over the place. The surroundings and the very farthest outline of the movie. Etc. And the last time, the fourth time we watch the show is what her cousin calls, the, “Relaxation Watch.” 1st, TIME, we watch is called, “INTRODUCTION WATCH.” 2nd, TIME, is called, “2nd-ary Observation.” 3rd, TIME, is called, Format & Fit. 4th, TIME, is called, Finalization and Observation.
Thomas Hasler: It just doesn't feel like the full crew without Alex - he should have died on the Roci.
Vincent Milzarek: I can't stand Steven Straight's constant pouty-face. It's a testament to the outstanding writing and production that I stay totally immersed in the show despite wanting to punch a main character every time I see him.
Mel Wilson: I never thought I'd legitimately enjoy The Expanse. Even take it seriously. Despite some of the inferior acting by supporting characters in The Belt, The Expanse IS a compelling show. I'm elated Amazon brought it back to life. I just wish we could see the full story playout in it's natural form, rather than force it in six seasons.
Vanilla Mamba: I'll be the bad guy. I know Cas Anvar had to go, I support that decision 100%. But that was absofreakinglutely lazy writing. And it was disrespectful of the character, not the actor. Naomi was terrible the entire season. How many more times is she going to run out and get herself into trouble so we have to watch her cry for 6 straight episodes?? Amos had a great character arc, Drummer is fantastic, Phillip is just as whiny as his mom, and Holden barely showed up. What a waste of a season. The final season better not go the way of GoT because I'm honestly worried. Great video and review, btw.
herrzimm: For future reference, don't just go "rip" when talking about someone who died. Actually do the R-I-P pronunciation, as it stands for Rest In Peace. R.I.P is far more respectful than a simple "rip".
Jim Szalewski: I fucking cried when Bobby grabbed Naomi.
gingerb36: Omg! That was epic
Katherine Keller: Would love to see a deeper dive on the battle scene.
etse gerrard: I will like a video that talks about Laconia
Stephen Betley: It was a superb Finale, Emmy worthy, and I got to see the Epilogue I wanted. Alex's death was done well getting Fred's death and adds a certain reality to the books that is more GRRM-like. Bull will no doubt take over. Looking forward to the Bull / Amos & Clarissa / Holden dynamic. The Polyambelterfam will play out in S6 and they brought forward some of the early B6 plot with a few tweaks for Oksana. Yet to see what happens to Filip though I'm guessing they'll stick close to the storyline. Altogether I was pretty happy, and gives hope for Books 7-9 being translated to the screen as well as well as S6. Maybe in a StargateSG1 way of a couple of movies. That'd do fine.
ColorCodeTrader: RIP Alex
Paul: I don't understand why the Barkeith was destroyed by the Unknown Aggressors, while other ships are seemingly allowed to pass through the rings.
MADSEB: This season was pure Space Opera! ❤️
frightone: Maybe someone remember number of episode from First or Second season when Chrisjen Avasarala lied on roof and says that she afraids people who throw rocks or something like that?
JW Long: Alex will be missed
Geezer tataa: Alex' death is just another example how stone-cold this series kills off it's characters.
Ken Spiracy: The Emperor is coming brothers!
