@tophfan: this is the weirdest arcane season 2 review I ve seen so far. congrats i guess...

@Lime1958: Can i just say, Arcane is majestic beacon of art in a land full of rehashed 90s nostalgia. I jist love this show so much

@alrizo1115: I think arcane should've been 4 seasons. Everything in season 2 felt really fast. There is no taking time of world setting, dialogues and character development. Only the animation continued being awesome.

@signupstuff: Grace acting like a tourist that only visited once and is trying to remember the last time. Some of us never left :)

@vijaz5559: OMG i love Grace's NOM NOM NOM NOM 😂😂😂😂

@CarlosGonzalez-jh2cw: NETFLIX HAD A previously ON... IN MY SCREEN.. A REALLY LONG ONE

@GenerationXMarvel: There was a recap at the start of the first of episode …at least when I watched it. I liked the first three episodes. I agree a lot going on but for the casual fan…probably will need to research what’s going on. Animation is next level.

@ethanhand8425: 6:12 Grace, the bottom image from the first episode “montage” scene you mentioned has a background that has been confirmed to be hand-drawn in charcoal. It is entirely stylistic and is quite insane to compare that to running out of money and time.

@LGOrtiz-c6n: She lowkey called Ekko a "Beta" male 😂😂😂

@brandonkuiros8205: This show makes you care about the characters because the development of them felt real and natural. They didn't just throw lgbt characters in there out of nowhere to be "politically correct". It's a fantastic story, if there's great writing/world building the rest doesn't matter.

@marcosirsav3860: Aracne Season 1 is certified Legend! Seriously love it so much! It holds a special place in my heart!

@lucasrosendal3420: who tf would watch a second season of a show without watching the first one??!

@drakenfist: I usually love your content, Grace, but i think you dropped the ball with this one. Arcane and League of Legends has way more fans then you realize. Many have been rewatching season 1 non stop. Look at the ratings!. After just over a day, Arcane is number 1 on Netflix in over 64 countries. Regarding the different animation styles, its use of slow motion and musical montages...thats the exact same thing it did in season 1. Its not cost cutting, its changing tones to fit its story. No this show isnt cattering to a crowd for a "agenda". Its simply telling its own story. Very disappointed with this review.

@LPR44: To be faaair, Netflix is only the distributor in this case. And Riot did advertise and had a ~6-month long campaign leading up to the S2 release, so the Arcane followers did have time to rewatch and plan around it.

@natewoods5225: One is for children……another is not…. That’s how some ppl can have a problem with Agatha vs LOL

@jojo_the_wise_sage: i dont know why u are blaming trump and incels for failure of acolyte and she hulk. those were awful shows. arcane is a good show which doesn't forces agendas

@BlinkyTheSpaceCadet: Grace...They didn't have the time to animate it?! With a 250 Mil. budget at 4 years? Ma'am...

@BlinkyTheSpaceCadet: Grace, you silly goose. I don't think ANYONE who was excited about this show was NOT aware it was coming back. I think a LOT of us even re-watched the entire series while waiting for it to drop. I think the intro is mostly an issue for you because your job is about watching these shows for work... The rest of us were waiting with baited breath.

@sunny3907: Grace really cannot get through her small smooth brain that well written shows will be well received even if they're super progressive. She Hulk, Agatha were cringe. Simple.

@randomgamer7799: Uhhh I had a 5 Minute recap on my Netflix before Episode 1--

@roundboxfitness3588: I can understand the complaints about waiting so long in between seasons But The way I see it is we basically got 2-3 movies worth of story in one season . This is more content we get from any other franchise no ?

@SwebbSam: My netflix offered a recap of season 1 before starting Season 2 episode 1 though ...?

@piusdoe8984: If we're gonna talk about the show with it not complete. Its not fair to say s2 is not as good. Also Arcane is not influenced by Spiderverse at all. Fortiche has been making animation for League since like 2013. Unless i missed something, im confused by "many of them are lgbt" not a problem but i did not see that

@cozzihoffmaann: I have never played the game. I can tell you arcane is nothing like she hulk. Not even close. This is why i hardly watch this channel anymore. Criticism doesn't match reality.

@uzairahmed4197: I dont usually say this in comments sections but this review was genuinely awful

@alpha4IV: if you can't see the difference between the quality of writing and storytelling between Arcane and She Hulk and maybe you don't know what the general audience (not necessarily your audience) is looking for in these type of shows.

@israelrobles681: The BIG DIFFERENCE is Arcane isnt preachy in the "we are powerfull women" they are just well writen characters. (and is respectfull on the male characters, heroes and villains are well writen too)

@undisclosed_branding9714: She compared the show to those others becasue they have female leads. Whether the writing is good or not the incel demographic has been stomping on content before it can even get off the ground. Even if its good if it has a female lead it must be woke trash. Thats why grace is comparing. Those other shows had to face all that negative social media before the public even got to watch their first episode. Im glad you all like Arcane but there are people who make the choice to dislike content or slander it only because of "woke and gay" 🙄

@kityhawk2000: Err not sure what the videos grace watched were like but there was definitely a recap of season 1 when you start season 2

@kejahashelton9401: .....why does it matter if a show is female lead? The story is what matters and the story in Arcane is amazing. Its never ceased to be amazing. This story has been about Vi and Jinx since the first episode of this show. Its really frustrating how female lead shows get dragged simply for showcasing the characters that they do regardless of story. Stuff like this is never a discussion with the normal male-lead shows. At this point it's not about the story it's about mysoginy masquerading itself as a "business discussion", becatse if this was about the story we wouldn't be talking about this. The animation is flawless, the writing is poetic and beautiful. Yet we have to have this discussion because we have women leads? As if there aren't already QUITE A FEW male leads in this show? Like what are we talking about

@Fportas2: Love you Grace but we cannot compare the shitty disney plus shows to this. Just because they’re all progressive that doesn’t make them the same. I swear Disney has AI writing their stuff and they all have a disney channel vibe. That is what makes them mediocre, not its progressive elements.

@Syzygy77: The quality of writing, the quality of characters, and quality of direction is the difference between Arcane and the other IP you mentioned. I think viewers are more sophisticated than you’re giving them credit for.

@rockchinainbox: now why would anyone watch season 2 of a show without watching season 1... 😵‍💫

@dantetjus2105: Riot is not backing away from Hollywood. Their ambition are to make new series about different regions of Runterra. For those who do not play the game the news of that this is the last season, does not understand that there are more stories to be told about other regions. Riot have also announced that the games new lore will be taken from the series they make. So I think the do not have any plans on slowing down.

@dantetjus2105: How can the absent of male main characters be a bad thing? For once we have strong female main charachters that does not feel forced.

@alxinthehype: Acolyte and she hulk are some of the worst written shows I’ve ever had the misfortune of sitting down and completely wasting my precious life currency watching🕰 . She hulk😂oh boy she hulk was so bad in fact that I literally thought that an actual show hated me for having a 🍆I can’t forget the feeling after each episode sobbing saying “I was born with it it’s not my fault😢” truly 4th wall breaking tho I can say. And acolyte didn’t hate me….it hated everyone especially those stupid, creepy jedi 🥴

@reshawnzinnerman9514: Sounds like it sucks. , darn.

@vaporwave4880: Arcane never made a big deal of it’s DEI, that’s the difference. It wasn’t making current year political commentary with it, and it didn’t elevate certain groups above others. it also didn’t alienate its male fanbase. Every character was well written and nuanced. Cant compare it to trash like she hulk or the acolyte.

@earlroy5265: Ekko not on this season.

@WaffleCone927: So Your radar for quality is absolutely insane. Respectfully, What happened to you? Ill always be a fan but jeez

@aifonadrian2368: This was … hard to watch …

@AlejandroDiazadiaz201: Arcane is written so much better than anything I've ever seen in "mainstream" media. This is closer to GoT when it was good than anything. Male/female/trans protagonists? who cares when the story is THIS good.

@tulukakala763: Yeah...not your best review Grace. I feel like you were being very unfair.

@anomalus625: Grace: no spoilers Also Grace: all the male characters have been sidelined or killed off

@Mywe77: There's a recap trailer, in the more episodes section

@hunterking8807: I disagree about needing a recap. That sounds like your personal issue.

@TheReVmatch: There was a recap on mine 🤷‍♂️

@tabithak7321: I got a recap when I started season 2? It was kind of 4mins long. Maybe because Grace had screeners?

@jrm371: Grace… never compare Arcane to … that garbage. How dare you.

@sims2310: Grace repsectfully, you are out of your mind LOL. These first 3 episodes are fantastic!!! Also, there was a recap video before episode 1.

@sonicsnake44: The level of ignorance Grace has about the animation in the show is incredible. The animators are not using rotoscoping or motion capture. They are keyframing every single frame of animation. Grace probably doesn't even know what that is. I guess that is a compliment to how good the animation in this show is that she thinks they are tracing over real people.

@edselgreaves6503: 3 years is honestly too long for a break. Everyone's lifestyle is totally different now. I dont even watch Netflix the same way anymore. I only use Netflix on my phone now because the regular plans have gotten so expensive. I wouldnt be surprised if Arcane lost a ton of viewership because of this.

@sonicsnake44: I've only watched the 1st season once and I was able to follow season 2 perfectly fine so far.

@PietroPizzi: I'm so glad that they don't need "hollywoods money" (obviously becaus LOL prints money on it's own), so that they can take the time it needs to make it as good as it can be. And you can't accelerate creativity, look at Rick and Morty or GoT for example. I rather get one excellent season every 3-4 years forever, than 2 good ones, 1 OK one, and then some hope-that-it-ends-soon ones every year!

@luishoraciohernandez4240: So far I’m loving the season. I do admit I had to rewatch the first season months ago so I could remember. But it is incredible in a bad way how Netflix doesn’t give good marketing to many shows

@MrNiskratus: Whats all this stuff about recaps. I started up ep1 and got a prety comprehensive recap at the very start. And why would season 2 have to stand on its own for people who havn't watched season 1. who clicks on a series on netflix and doesnt start from the beginning?

@Ismailm712: I totally agree with Grace's take on this one. The unapologetically progressive nature of Season 2 thus far is a gamble. It fells like the pendulum has swung passed the sweet spot and into eye roll territory. A consultant during this seasons development may have helped it out a lot.

@HaroldDominguezhn: Comparing Arcane to Disney shows like the Acolyte is sacrilegious. I never thought Arcane was a female driven show until you said because the problem with Disney is not having female driven shows. The Disney problem is badly written female characters. I hated the shows you mentioned not because of the women but because of the writing and execution of those projects. When writers stop thinking in inclusion and start doing believable well written shows regardless of their gender and preference they will succeed. Examples on point Arcane, Star Wars Rebels and WandaVision.

@Ismailm712: I am really enjoying this show. With that said, the lack of strong male characters could be problematic towards the overall success and popularity.

@brandenmccarney5065: Grace can't do a review without talking about identity politics.

@ctakmen: That may be region specific, but Netflix played a recap of season 1 when I watched the show today.

@redsnowtk1678: The show is diveded in 2 parts.. even if u never watched season 1 or if u never heard of Arcane You'll se there is obviouly a Season 1 u have to watch ... cause seriously.. who starts watching a show by the last season...😂

@danotazmedia: Slight correction right game actually is not pulling out out of the animation, industry whatsoever! The showrunner already confirmed that riot gains has already Greenlet more League of Legends series that will spin off of arcane!

@ekanastone: IDK what she's talking about with the exploration of the lore because they threw so much Runeterra politics at you in these first three episodes that i feel like THAT could be an issue for some people lol

@Sardukar-zh4ki: Terrible “review”, thanks.

@shadysorkin9214: This was a very strange review with a lot of misinformation.

@thoriasunlimited4053: "I don't see how you could have a problem with She-Hulk and the Acolyte and Agatha All Along, but yet be okay with this." It helps that Arcane is actually good, while those other three shows were hot garbage, Grace. Almost as if quality writing makes all the difference.

@CarlosGonzalez-jo2vh: Please don't call it progressive. We want most of America to watch it with and open mind and get sucked into the story. Comparing it to the Acolyte and Agatha are now doing viewers any favors.

@christianvandom: The new season has a 3 minute recap before you start the episode. I guess only the press had this issue. But still, everyone that loved the show watched like at the very least 3 times like myself, so no recap needed at all. Also, you really cannot compare the level of storytelling quality of Arcane to stuff like Agatha, She-Hulk and The Acolyte just because they all are lead by women and queer people. Everyone can tell what is the superior work.

@melina_0455: I don't know why you didn't see it: there was a recap before starting season 2

@nobleamadi6586: Oh no Grace, I’m sorry this is a poor take 😭

@TheGeneralGrievous19: It's only Act 1 and it's already amazing stuff. 👏 I missed Arcane, it's perfect show. I didn't even notice it is all women on the poster for S2.

@julio1148: The "music video" moments were also quite prominent in S1, specially in acts 2 and 3

@masonguthrie1257: I’m sorry but trying to compare Arcane to She Hulk like come on Grace you know there is a huge difference in the level of storytelling.

@joejune234: Bro this review is trash tell me you don't like animation without telling me you don't like animation and there was a recap and it's clear you don't like season 1 if you can't remember anything from such a wildly acclaimed show

@julianjr74: imagine a studio fortiche animated WONDER WOMAN movie

@Hauntedhighheel: First three episodes were good, but the music video per episode made me think they in fact didnt have enough story, ran outta time or are pushing a product placement.

@elijah0208: I wish we got more film reviews (even smaller ones) instead of tv series n streaming

@kellytibbs3815: Shows love to give recaps mid season but can’t be bothered between seasons. It’s so frustrating I’m glad someone’s finally calling out out

@adamxvimiller: A quick search for a YouTube recap should do the trick before hand.

@Hexxagone850: LGBT show with almost all female cast, and people out here like WHY DID PEOPLE VOTE FOR DONALD TRUMP!!!

@Rockstar-bq5fm: I get what you’re saying about the world building. The series isn’t as bedded in and it seems to be trusting you to carry off of the first season. You kind of just end up in places you have no idea where you are

@jacob.eli.knight: Could you imagine a Fortiche Legend of Zelda?

@dzibanart8521: Grace I have rewatched Arcane Season 1 so many times I know it better than my own name.

@Anosmia45: Grace pls stop being ignorant to the obvious- she hulk, the acolyte, etc is bad writing and created for the purpose of checking boxes for the sake of doing so while Arcane and the likes of WW1, the hunger games, EEAAO, kill bill, etc have good writing good storytelling and happen to focus on female leads…. If you keep ignoring what’s staring you in the face you’ll continue to misunderstand audiences/ the majority

@isaibnsaleheen: I feel like there's such a disconnect between the casual viewer (like Grace) and someone who has been in the medium. Riot has been promoting Arcane season 2 all year. I had the date marked on my calendar for so long I can't even remember when I put it. I stayed up till 3am to watch the first episode premiere on Riot's Twitch page. And as someone who knows about the lore of the show and watched the Necrit recap of the first season, it perfectly fits with everything. As for the "all women" part, I feel like those other shows had issues of being mediocre as compared to Arcane, which is truly a gem. Again, we won't know until the final 3 episodes come out but I feel like this first 3 episode batch has already sucked me right back into the world.

@taj9257: I got a big recap video before I watched on Netflix- doing know why you didn’t see it

@stormbard: You know I love the reviews, Grace… But this wasn’t one of the good ones. If the writing is good, people are, (with a few exceptions, obviously) completely fine with a ”woman-led show”. Personally, I consider pretty much every character in Arcane superbly written. I think people have more of a problem with one-dimensional characters. No character in this show is that.

@BluJae93: Ekko wasn’t shown in the first 6 episodes?

@greygorygaming: I agree with Grace. I really don't like Arcane exactly because it's cut from the same cloth as She-Hulk, Agatha All Along and Acolyte, but let me tell you Grace, some people just like to delude themselves. Like The Penguin, Arcane has got that arthouse glow, and a lot of fans ignore those other things. Don't be surprised if some people will be inconsistent with their preferences. I mean they still like the new season of The Boys, right?

@JesusMM07: Y'all didn't get a recap? I got a pretty lengthy recap when I played episode 1 😮

@mekman4: Great Stuff!

@tuni16tuni: Well duh of course season two is not its own thing and you have to watch season 1 first to get it. Who jumps directly into S2 of a show?? 😂 Personally though I've been having the best time rewatching the first season throughout the past week then immediately going into season two today, and I'm loving the second season so far.

@tessimothompson6018: weird re recap, I'm in the UK and watched this morning and there was a huge recap at the beginning? Wonder why that wasn't in front of anyones

@rainstorm.: Gotta speak for yourself grace! many of us have been waiting for season 2 with baited breath. Me and my circle have done multiple rewatches since the teaser came out months ago. There was also a very extensive recap in front of the actual episodes on netflix. I don’t think arcane season 2 will have a viewership problem at all

@CZJames20: That is absolutely insane comparing Arcane to those garbage shows, Grace no one cares if it´s mainly female led cast, people care if it´s actually good or not.

@canalcinemou: Wow, did she really compare the writing, world building and character development with all those Disney+ shows? Wild.

@sinan3674: Grace, i love & look forward to your reviews a lot. But I think a litlle more research on Gaming properties that get adapted to hollywood, would be appreciated. For example this show is filled with Easter Eggs, you put SO MUCH emphasis on them in your Marvel/DC reviews but no mention of them here at all. Instead a lot of focus on the "female centric" cast. A lot of those characters are from the game, so fans actually don't care about their gender. This feels a little misinformed, no shade. love you💋

@shannonberrien2454: Thanks!

@lovebuttonsmoo: I've gotten so many people into this show. It's not an easy sell, but once they watch the first three episodes of season one, they are hooked.
