They usually point towards the spire to lead to get the boots. Basically, a couple of weeks ago I still thought you could do this but you can't. But what I learned instead is that when you go to where zero point "deploded" and the little zero point thing was directing itself above me so I think that the aliens have the zero point on their ship, otherwise that would not have that enormous gateway at the bottom of their ship.
