He used to deal with teens and tried to teach them to be responsible and tough, but always got shit for it. So when the world ended, he looked for the badasses and shunned the weaklings, that was his way and it worked in a world of chaos! But now he's lived amongst Alexandria and saw how life could be badass and still civil, so he might stop his evil doings but still keep his badass behaviour
