Joshua N/A: I haven't even read the manga, and I thought a lot of your questions were obvious from the anime only. The kids were raised having to survive as a discriminated group. From what this episode showed, there seems to be three main factions: the faction governing the world, a smaller group of rebels empowered by what titans they've stolen, and the nation Eren and them are in whose ancestors were exiled and have learned about the enemies they were forced to forget. Basically, to those in this ep, the ones shown are basically trying to fight back against oppression, and now, they're learning their trump cards are no longer as all powerful as they once thought they were. And those weren't so much mindless people as they were, as their title was explained, a suicide squad. Basically, willing to give up their lives against a larger threat if it means a better life for the loved ones left behind. And that's just what I've gathered from the anime. Haven't even read the manga.

NexusBecauseWhyNot?!: Ook so, for the rundown, those kids are possible successors for Reiner, Zeke and maybe the Cart titan, they ahve to prove their strategic power and will to fight the enemies, they are undergoing the same training as Annie, Reiner, Bertholt, Zeke, Marcel (the jaw titan that was later eaten by Ymir) and the Cart titan. The Jaw titan is the lion one, you will find out more about him in the next episodes, just remember Marcel as he is kind of important to the characters (like Marco was for the original squad). The war on Slava was started because of Reiner and Zeke's failure in Shiganshina at the end of season 3. The crazy girl is named Gabi, the boy is called Falco and his bigger brother is Colt. Remember their names. Also their general (and instructor) is named Magath

Timjer: The whole "cycle of revenge" is indeed a major theme in AoT. Eldian ancestors used the Titans to subjugate Marley, then Marley uses the Titans to subjugate the Eldians, and now some Eldians want to use their Titans to subjugate Marley again... It's a cycle of hatred that'll never end until either people learn from history or there is no side to continue anymore. And yes, the Nazi Germany parallels are indeed strong with Marley, which is how they keep their Eldian Warriors, cannon fodder, and Titans in line; through intense fear and indoctrination. WIT studio used CGI too and it did look weird especially with the colossal Titan I hope we’ll have more hand drawn Titan shots but if using CGI helps them give us a constant quality, I won’t complain! The CGI didn’t look that bad apart from here and there, but honestly other than that the animation was great and even having read the manga some scenes shocked me. I didn’t notice that they strapped people to mechanism that threw them in the air to transform as titans, I missed that little detail and I think it makes a big difference Also the feel of : nobody is winning : war is terrible is greatly done. Seeing the « ennemie » getting eaten by titans made me almost gasp. I swear AoT always shocks me even though I’m not someone squeamish usually
