Lewis Doherty: The cobblestone pathway would have been built when the British military had an instillation on the island. The military would have used their plentiful labor supply to lay stones and prevent the dock area and road up to their other structures from turning into a mud hole. The carbon-14 testing of the organic material over the road as very old comes from the fact that numerous excavations for treasure has pulled stuff up from deep in the island and dumped it on top with the spoil washing into the swamp and over the cobblestone area. Previous work was done as a treasure hunt, not as an archeological effort, so everything is now scrambled. If those guys were smart, they would bring a bucket of water with them to put the finds in and wash them off.

Thomas Flansburg: I'm glad they found where the depositors burned all their refuse that means they are getting closer to finding their base camp. To me it looks as though Oak Island was going to be built into a fort similar to others along the cost, unfortunately wars didn't playout as planned. I've nailed down at least 4 different deposits on Oak Island. One or two have already been recovered and spent.
