Semblance of Sanity: Wait, a breather episode?? In the *final* season of Attack on Titan?? Although we did have a soldier getting brutally beaten to death with a brick and a kid almost getting impaled with a pitchfork. What's next? What *is* Zeke's plan? If you want to see our timer-based, full length reaction to this episode, go check out our Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/semblanceofsanity

Balázs Nagy: "mhmm mhmm yep yep mhmmm" I love Jacob :D

CaroNilsen95: Love your reactions :) when is next rwby ep coming? :)

Ali Hart: Wow, so many parallels from the conversation with the kids to the conversation between Eren and Reiner. Those two were some of very few people who had spent serious amounts of time in both Paradis and Marley, so they had perspectives nobody else could understand. Except they were too entrenched in their beliefs due to their past trauma to even try and make peace, as is Gabi. This makes Falco such an important character, due to him having seen Eren and Reiner have that chat, he understands both sides in a way Gabi refuses to

Sir Gawain: To speak to what was said in the comments at the beginning. The difference between Eren and Erwin is choice. Floch’s entire existence as a character in S3 was the either that even fodder have the right to choose how they die. But in this episode he is somehow so blinded by his own ideals that he doesn’t get that not everyone chose to see Eren the way he does and would die for him like he would.

Juan Sek: This is my favorite episode so far.

Ishan Sharma: People really thinks that feeding them food and acting nice can really change Gabi's perception in a day that she has developed during her entire childhood. Also I keep hearing people saying that if falco can understand the others sides perspective y cant Gabi. So for this firstly falco already spend some time with eren seeing his nature and he was already very comfortable with him, also Reiner confirmed everything that eren said that made a deeper impact on falco . Does anyone really think that if eren would have launched the attack first and then falco can to know their reasons without any confirmations from someone he trusts l, he would have developed the same perspective as he has right now. And saying whose sin is greater or "fresher" is just pointless. Eldia ruled over the world for over 2000 years and could have killed and captures million of people whereas Marley has only attacked then 5 years ago where no more than 250k people dies but they were the so called recent bad people, so this discussion is totally pointless. Every person form their side will think that they are right and theirs nothing we can do about it. We can't say they are wrong in thinking this, we can hate then but we definitely can't expect to change their perspective in a day. Also People are saying that the people are more aware of their sins and more mature than people on Marley which is a complete lie, we are only seeing our crew which are definitely more aware of the situation but I definitely think that people on paradise totally support eren in what he is doing similar to how people in marley are shown.

Regulus: "Kaya" That feeling when Sasha may be dead but her presence in the anime is still felt all over the story and maybe even more than it was before through the people she interacted with. She may be dead but her ideals and legacy was inherited by Kaya. RIP Sasha, Meat.

kanzashi: The girl who Sasha saved four years ago watched the sunset lovingly in the last scene. It's beautiful and so touched. I cried.

Disrupted: 33:38 too early Jacob, wait a little bit

Mia Bot: *BEST EPISODE SO FAR*

Viehdieb: I don't even wanna know how many AoT fans don't understand or don't want to understand how much this show about nationalism and racial oppression.

Роман Бекерис: Gabi earlier when Falco told her that it was revenge: "Did you see that? Neither did I." Kaya in this episode: Uno reverse card.

Jayant K: Gabi constantly says "YOUR sins, YOUR ancestors" like bruh both of your ancestors are the same. If you call them devils and want them to die, it applies to you too.

Valeri M: The more I watch of this show the more I'm blown away by the storytelling. The base concept of understanding and saving vs. fighting and protecting is seen paralleled in so many characters. Falco and Gabi, Armin and Eren, Hange and Floch, and Kaya and Louise, to name a few. There are probably even more that I'm not aware of yet since I'm not caught up on the manga. The themes run so deep in this story and you get to see the concept fleshed out through many different perspectives and experiences. It's absolutely brilliant.

Ashwin Rai: Yesterday Iroha centred Oregairu. Today Gabi centred AoT.

TheSerpantin999: Caleb some episodes ago: "Eren looks like a cult leader" Paradis Island: and I took that personally. Also glad to see that people generally warm up to Gabi's development this early on, plenty of manga readers still don't accept her.

Iman: The robber who attacked Mikasa was stabbed in the heart and I think Louise making the dedicate your heart pose made Mikasa remember the incident.

Warm-Hearted Reaction: this ep is so spacial

Lord_of_Lords: this episodes name is so multilayered... who is the deceiver here? Is it Eren? Is it Zeke? Is it Flocke? Is it Gabi and Falco? Is it the Marleyans, because Gabi slowly learns the truth? Is it the Eldians, because they not remember? Great naming and there is so much more to it that meets the eye

Ankit Kumar undil: Floch is badass mark my word haters you will soon gonna acknowledge him your fav reactors gonna acknowledge the king floch ✌💥

Ankit Kumar undil: One word for attack on titan its a masterpiece if you watch todays Ep you can understand me

ぽー: I'm Japanese, and I've watched a lot of Attack on Titan videos from overseas reviewers, but I think your comments are the most sensitive and profound. I'm looking forward to your videos more.

TraX: has Jacob read the manga?

Major Maxor: I just realized Gabi and Falco are about to meet Niccolo, who knows Sasha was killed by a child warrior, an info that will reach Sasha's dad who's the head of the orphanage. (based on the orphanage's name).

SomeGuy037: caleb reminds me of so much of Wolowitz from big bang theory

Husain Shabu: the horse scene was so awesome it connects so much .....the horse thought gabi was food just like eldians before paradis thought of marley and then the horse attacks gabi for she is food just like marley they thought were devils and then gabi falls just like paradis fell after their attack and then she says this is the devils doing same as eldian in marley and marleyans did...but no one was there to say to them that it was just a horse meaning that that is just what they are been thought and thus the bucket on gabi head symbolizing eldian in marley now been blind from the real truth that its just a horse that has no way to talk and thus the horse symbolizes now the eldian in paradis who have no way to talk but to attack. comment on this or like if you agree so i know if iam right or not.

Runtime Error_ALT_464: The moment you realize that Eren literally used the scouts as pawns speaks a lot about where he’s at mentally. If it were four years ago Eren would never willingly bet lives on victory. At this point he’s 100% in Kahoots with Zeke.

Wryyytard: Can you guys watch mushoku tensei

anaisgrace: I love what theyre doing with Gabi's character. She is gonna be an important piece to breaking the cycle of hatred with her character development and i am here for it

Stormy Knight: Gabi is the Eren of Marley. 🤔

Mridul Summan: Loved the contrast between the Reiner-Porco interaction compared to their earlier interaction in Episode 2 when Reiner wakes up. Then Porco had saved Reiner and he said something like "Having a fun dream?" when he woke up from a nightmare. Porco had his back turned to Reiner, was sitting upright seemingly proud, and was eating food on his own. Now Reiner had saved Porco, and he asks him "Having a nightmare?" when he woke up and doesn't snap at him. He is facing Reiner, slouching, and offers him a drink. Great way to show Porco's character development.

A R: Kaya: I think Mikasa's flashback to the cabin scene and Eren saying "You're safe now, Mikasa" is and allegory for the Rumbling. It shows us that Eren was only able to win by killing all of his enemies. This also ties into Louise's flashback of being saved by Mikasa in season 1, because both scenes demonstrate that to win you have to fight. Add this to the scene from last episode of the 104th talking about Eren's true intentions, and you can see why Mikasa is having doubts that Eren will just be able to talk things out like Armin wants him to. I'm also looking forward to Mikasa's character growth this arc, because a clear disconnect is starting to grow between Eren and Mikasa which seems to be making her more independent from Eren's influence.

lawoftheeast: "WONDERRR BOYYYYYY!" Venture Bros. fans confirmed? 🤔

ParmesanCheese: "These are indisputable truths!" A couple days ago "Did you see it happen?"

nnightkingj: You know I got a bad feeling Kaya is going to die at that restaurant because Nicolo did something to that drink now I thought before it could be poison but thinking back to the trailer and there's titans back on Paradis it very well could be titan serum

kingofsapi: With each passing episode of AoT, I feel like Jacob is just going to explode with knowledge. The way he just freaks out at everything is so entertaining. XD

toysmostwanted: KAYA: The Gabi and Kaya confrontation was very powerful especially when you consider that both of them were brainwashed in a way; one was made to forget and the other was made to always remember.

saphir blau: That callback to Sannes got me. There's always someone who has to play the role of "keeping the peace". The way that the chairs and the windows look like a prison symbolizes that Hange is now in the same situation, only this time they are at the opposite side of the bars. And that thing about Mikasa's memories, it's like she's seeing Eren's cruel side in contrast to the Eren who gave her the scarf.

Oji San: 8:56 my disappointment is immeasurable and my day ruined... edit: 14:48 : |

Alsrem Zewto: Kaya! Can we just take a moment to appreciate how Magath is having this super important military meeting with his Eldians and ONLY them, he only cares about what they think and is fully listening to what they have to say. He's known every one of them since they were kids, and in a way he kind of raised them all.

Neo Nanogerm: "Kaya" Gabi really has to come to terms with her ideals this episode. Despite the kindness she's shown throughout the episode she still believes the Eldians on Paradi are devils. Understandably, we can't expect her to change right away but hopefully Kaya will finally get her to start seeing these people as people. With this episode titled "Deceiver", seems that gabi is deceiving herself

salep concept: KAYA The titans outside the walls were Survey Corps' common enemy for 3 seasons during Erwin's time. They could afford to take such drastic risks and advance just because they faced the titans and knew that if they stayed ignorant and stagnant they would cease to exist. Even if there were disagreements they were outside of Survey Corps, especially the Military Police who were ignorant and scared to disturb the waters. Now that the common enemy (pure titans) are gone, it's easier for everyone to voice their concerns and act on their own. But if every soldier starts acting on their own Survey Corps and their exceptional talent/experience will mean nothing, because you can't move if you're pulled in every direction. I feel so much for Hange because her personality aside, she has to lead a situation she can't fully grasp and she has to take on multiple key roles at the same time.

Samuki Udon: Transcript said Floch did leak info for “humanity”, but actually he said for THE HUMANITY IN THE WALL in Japanese. It’s a far big difference, plz translate it correctly...

Nivender: Porco : " I can't believe we've been working side by side with traitor all along" Director : *hard cut to Reiner

pilseung 7: We missing Erwin man!

Neyte Ranth: So what do we have... Sasha's family and the girl Sasha saved go to the restaurant of a Marleyan that loved Sasha... with Sasha's murderer. If that's not recipe for disaster, I don't know what is

tmxtch: Kaya: It’s funny how Gabby says that Paradis’ ancestors were devils, when they were her ancestors too. Before the king split, they were all on Marley together. The King took half of the Eldians and fled to the island. Since arriving to the island, neither the Marley Eldians nor the Paradis Eldians have committed any atrocities compared to those of Eldia’s past. So, those atrocities were committed before they became devils. When she’s telling Kaya to accept the weight of her ancestors sins, she’s also talking to herself. She can’t seem to do what she asks of the island Eldians. She just shifts the blame.

ababa: 17:29 Noo, the meat=Nicolo theory is effecting Caleb lol

Pieck Fiction: I love your guys' reaction and discussion. Especially the tangent about travelling outside your own country. It's so true and relates well to this episode. It happens so often where people get stuck in their own perspective and they think that's how the world should work. We make assumptions about people and different situations based on our limited knowledge and experiences. Gabi is that person in this situation. She assumes things just because that's how she was raised and taught to believe. It's such a human thing to go through, but it's awesome that the story in a way, calls out our personal biases. Yeah. And a lot of the time we don't even know when it's happening to us, as Jacob has said. :P Don't have anything interesting to say, but: Kaya! As proof that I watch these discussions all the way through. xD Have been really enjoying them. 👍

ice_2 _no1: I doubt the time loop will happen. I think in the spirit of the show, it will _keep moving forward._

James Osbourne: A breather cause we in Part 1 folks. It’s not gonna cover all of the manga. There’ll be a part 2. Hopefully.

Lana RU: FLOCH GANG

Corey Burgh: When the girl revealed to be the one that Sasha found made me wonder "Oh shit, if this girl finds out Gabi murdered Sasha... how will that complicate the situation?" Of course they probably never really reveal that since Gab doesn't know Sasha nor could identify her, so they probably would never find out unless someone outs Gabi as the killer in front of the girl.

Lana RU: I understand why gabi like that, but still i hate her at least for now

kintokisa: That small creepy titan looked like Connie's dad

valdeaunia: 27:42 this is a fantastic observation

lolwutdavid: Love the thoughts and discussion! This will be the channel I go to now after each episode :D

Dave K: Reiner: 6 months to make me die?! MAKE IT NOW SUPRISE SUIC- SUPRISE ATTTACK

Jordan Dwiggins: KAYA. I love how many call backs we get to previous seasons here. Louise from S1 demonstrating the danger of obsessively following your heroes, making Mikasa question her devotion to Eren given that her obsession with him stemmed from a similar situation as what Louise experienced being rescued by Mikasa herself. Kaya from S2 showing the positive effects a simple thing like Sasha’s kindness had, which is all the more powerful given how Sasha started off not too unlike Gabi in her lack of empathy for people who weren’t like her, only for to grow beyond that thanks to the wisdom of her father and her experience around so many different people in training camp. Now Gabi has the chance to be exposed to that same selfless kindness in the same man, and in the family he takes care of, but will it be enough to change her mind? Not only that, characters like Flegel and the journalists from the Uprising Arc return to test Hange and make her even more uncertain of her direction going forward, with Floch’s dedication to his new devil only escalating this frustration for Hange after her experience with Eren last episode. I appreciate Flegel showing that he sympathizes with Hange, but he still has a job to do and he needs Hange to communicate with them or the general public is going to get progressively fed up with the state of things. That Sannes flashback was a great way to show the way Hange sees herself right now: just the latest player in a never ending cycle of deceit and manipulation, but what other choice does she have? Working with Eren and being honest to the public could lead to actions that Hange cannot morally agree with, so where does she put her loyalty? The will of the people or her own beliefs?

Acrab: Erwin was a devil, but also a leader. Eren is mostly a devil, lacks the brain, Armin lacks the balls.

ice_2 _no1: Deceiver? I hardly know her!

adi prabowo: the tragedy between sasha save the girl and gabi kill sasha , and for some reason i know why gabi get hated so much in this episode , her ignorance and inhumanity again common citizen in paradis is to much , thank god for falco he always stop her , the difference between eren and gabi , eren know everything and he is cast out his humanity to save himself and paradis , and gabi just get brainwash and pure hatred again evey paradis people , if she still hostile again common people , i believe she will get hated all the time , sorry my broken english

Zaynab Ali: " Kaya " One of the key moments in this episode, which was mostly a spotlight on Gabi, is the fact that she was presented with logic for the first time. Yes, we can argue that Falco did talk to her before boarding the zeppelin, though there wasn't much facts presented as they were in this episode. Those who cling to passed down, drilled knowledge without being faced with a counter argument will always believe that their ideologies are right. It's mostly when we are faced with an apposing question or theory when we start doubting and that's when it's in our hands, do we cling to knowledge we can't defend or look for the truth, whether that truth is the same ideology or a different one. It's now in Gabi's hands to look for the truth. She was brainwashed and fed misconceptions, but now with Kaya's argument she has no excuse, we'll see where that will lead. Another thing I wanted to point out, is the fact that Hange is so underrated and blamed for the wrong reasons. If I had to say the truth, she has much more on her shoulders than Erwin ever had and seeing people label her as being less is unfair. She stood with Eren when he first decided not to go with the plan, though she still stood beside him when he did. She just wants to understand him, because she looks to me like she was left in the dark about the reason things changed, taking in consideration she's the leader of the scouts who should know where she's leading them. Amazing reaction as always, waiting for tomorrow's discussion 💛 Edit : Spelling mistakes

m33p0: Theo Magath: we will invade Paradis in 6 months but... i may be persuaded to order the attack now if... you will address me as general.

Mikasa Ackerman: KAYA The scene in the stables when the horse put Gabi's entire head in its mouth was not only hysterical but I believe also had a deeper meaning to it as well. This entire episode was Gabi hearing the truth "straight from the horses mouth." The horse being the so called "island devils" and "Kaya." It seems someone might have finally knocked some sense into Gabis stubborn noggin and it's none other than the child that Sasha saved which could actually in term end up being how Gabi is saved herself. Ironic isn't it.

The7thage: If you didn’t know, the titan that Sasha staved in the eyes was connie’s father. And the Titans that were fighting each the next episode were his little brothers. Connie has probably had it the worse of his lot

Ember: This is why Gabi is such a disgusting character. She's like a flat earther, she can't be reasoned with.

Gino Israel: KAYA with all this i can't help but think. How would Erwin do in this dynamic if he was alive. Also as much as I love Erwin as a character, his way of thinking in regards of sacrificing lives for the sake of accomplishing the "goal" is so dangerous. We can see Floch's mindset is based on Erwin's drive as a tenacious leader, but the difference is that Floch believed in that pragmatic way of thinking WAAYY too much to the point of extremism.

Gunsmith Cat: I hope they will cont. the Gaby storyline in the next episode. She may be one of the most hated characters, because she killed Sascha, but she is also one of the best characters on the story in terms of writing.

Brai Diaz: Note: the experience that was mentioned with the plane is called sonder or the realization that every person around you has lives just as complex as your own

Johnny Betmansour: Kaya is surprisingly mature for a child. On another note, something that I haven’t seen mentioned much is that Floch is now an avid Eren supporter. Considering how he resented Eren at the end of season 3 due to Erwin’s death, this may seem like a surprising development, but it makes sense when you look at it. Floch believed that they needed Erwin because he was a “demon” that could make the decisions and sacrifices that would give them victory. It seems that he now sees that same thing in Eren, who pushed the people he cared about into serious danger (with Sasha and likely many other soldiers dying) in order to carry out whatever plan he has and fight back against Marley.

Brandon Evans: I don’t know why but I’m like 90% sure Eren is the father. I have no proof or any evidence but it seems the most likely

Micisme86: I think this episode also pointed out the bias that the viewer has against the Marley side as you can see from the lack of empathy shown from the viewers during Eren's attack. A lot of people are dying that have nothing to do with this conflict. Very tragic

DATskorge: Oh shit I forgot there was an episode today! I'll be back!!

Romhacher: KAYA What I interpreted from the mikasa flashback was not only her view of eren changing but the actions eren was taking, Eren did "horrible" things to save mikasa and at the end said "you're safe now" truly believing his actions were necessary and did them to protect her. This is a parallel to his current actions, eren *attacking* Marley and the rest of the world because it is necessary to protect those he cares for and his people and after the destruction he will bring to the world he will look to paradis and say "you're safe now"

KingFloch: -Get who this is now ? -Connie's sister ? Lmaoo the disappointment on jacob's face like c'mon man 😂😂😂😂😂

Ted: I loved the scene in season 1 where Mikasa saluted the Louise and her mother after she saved them from that titan. The visible inspiration Louise got from Mikasa, after she was saluted to, put a smile on my face. Now I love that scene even more after seeing LOUISE saluting MIKASA, even after she was told by her to shut up. Mikasa has a fangirl! Kaya was great to see too, but I'm just mentioning her for the code thing.

Telestic Studio: gabi is literaly a paralel of borat while he stayin in jewish couple's house.

Brandon De la cruz: Gabis VA is phenomenal like damm she is lowkey the standout this season so far

パンスター: Somebody get Gabi some chill pill

Anime & Chill: Gabi: "your ancestors commited horrible crimes for hundreds of years" Kaya: "did you see that happen?"

Rik Thunder: This episode. I don't know how often I blurred out: Gabi, shut the f up...

Relax I'm A Troll: GAAAAABBBIIIIIIIIII

Slothful: The irony is that everything Gabi said Eldians did in the past is pretty much exactly what Marley has been currently doing. They are oppressing, colonizing, and attacking other groups of people Eldian or otherwise. It's quite literally what Marley's current power was built upon.

Mr. Edit: I'm quite surprised to see Reiner so fired up to go back to Paradise island already. Just a little bit ago, he had basically given up and the thought of going back to that island and confronting his old comrades likely kept him up every night. Thought he'd need a little pep talk first, but I suppose it's been made clear that at this rate he's only fighting for Gabi and Falco. So with them being kidnapped, he'd feel more motivation as opposed to just doing it for Marley and revenge.

EMZ_221B MindPalace: just gonna leave this here, hey if you know you know

ً: thank you for not hating gabi

Attia Mazen: "Kaya" Caleb dancing around the content of the episode not wanting to mention white guilt, lmao

theweebIKEA: Kaya Ok so first of it's kind of sad how Gabi's first resort to solve issues involves some form of violence. Because of her life and beliefs, it's as if she's programed to go to extremes because in her head, it's a necessary step a better future for Eldians living in Marley. While thinking about that, I saw a connection between Gabi and another character. Not Eren but in fact Floch. In some way, at least to me, they have some similarities because Gabi's instincts to go to the extremes to reach her goals for a better future reminds me of Floch leaking information to the public about Eren's imprisonment. Both in their mind are noble actions for noble goals but cause serious issues for those around them. Floch for example didn't just talk about freeing Eldians, he wants to revive the Eldian Empire. That's extreme and even if he may have communicated with Eren, does Eren really want to bring back the empire? Literally no one but Eren knows Eren's objective. As for Gabi, she wants a better life for Eldians in Marley and of course they would want that but you know, no one told her to hop on the airship and go to the island to seek answers in order to save them. Of course, a good portion of that came from her rage but I feel like in their own ways, they care too much about their own goals. Armin (even though he doesn't communicate with Floch much) and Falco are the ones who are there to be like, hey let's not jump to conclusions. Let's not go to the extremes. Let's just absorb information we're presented with, analyze and from there move forward as level-headed people. I thought it was interesting because I don't really see this connection being made.

Sooraj K: Kaya: Here, have some chocolates, you two! Falco: Aww you're too kind. Thanks Kaya! *Grabs chocolate and eats it* Gabi: You're too kind Kaya! Nobody's that kind! *Grabs knife and tries to stab her*

ShinyBusterBaby: KAYA There was 2 flashbacks. One where Kaya saw her mother being eaten and the other was of Mikasa saving the people, at the gate, from the titan.

Raymond Yongho: Soon. Soon Gabi will learn, there are no devils, there are just people.

Ayyy-Imma-Ninja: "KAYA" Finally, the problem at hand is being discussed!!! It felt so good to actually see both sides TALK! Gabi and Kaya's conversation was the absolute best part of the episode. Kaya sees how brainwashed Gabi is, and Gabi is having her own morals questioned. Kaya is right, and she is asking the right questions: WHY? Why should the people today be punished for sins that were committed centuries ago? I am honestly looking forward to Gabi meeting Niccolo. I'm ready for her to be met with the consequences of her actions.

Arreila A: Oh god... I have a theory. I think that when Gabi and Falco go to niccolo’s restaurant, I think that when he hears that they are from Marley he is going to freak out on them because he knows that Sasha was killed by a kid from Marley.

Clair de Lune: 5 episode more T,T

Nikki: Reiner, probably: Oh you're saying it's going to be a suicide mission? COUNT ME IN!

Thomas M: Reminder that AoT is literally a parable about white genocide.

Yohanes Bobby Sanjaya: Gabi si fvcked up... she talked like that but she forgot that she is also eldian... gabi talking about kaya ancestors were mass murderer despite having the exact same ancestor... cant wait until pieck shoves the ugly truth to her

GunBlasts: MAPPA has again adopted just one full chapter for one ep. I really dont mind it slowing down since every detail is really important now but I just cant help think which chapter S4 part 1 will now end at since at the trailer it was up until chapter 122 that was shown but even ending at chapter 119 seems impossible now 😅
